Wooden carrot

Fourteen centimeters of orange carrot, greens included, turned from a single piece of beech wood. It is one of the rare play-food items that a child names before even knowing how to pronounce the whole word, and its elongated shape makes it an ideal grip for little hands.

Erzi designs its range as much for children's bedrooms as for German nurseries and schools. This explains the robustness of its food items: they are designed for intensive collective use, not to remain in a display case.

Recommended age: 3 years and up
Dimensions: 14 x 2.4 x 2.4 cm
Materials: solid beech, colored lacquer finish
Care: wipe with a soft, dry cloth

At Maison Canailles, we love to see it end up in the cooking pot, in a stuffed rabbit's basket, or in the hand of a child who is very seriously taking a bite out of nothing.

This carrot is one of the ideas in our Advent calendar with real little toys.

Detailed description

The carrot, the first vegetable named by toddlers

Fourteen centimeters long, it can be grasped with the whole hand, offered, given, and put away. Its value goes beyond market stall decor: it is a tool for language development. Naming, pointing, requesting, exchanging—everything happens through identifiable objects, and the carrot is among the first food names learned.

A piece turned from a single block of beech wood

No assembly, no glued parts that could come off: the body and the top are carved from the solid wood, then lacquered. This allows these play foods to withstand years of handling, including in group settings.

What is the exact size of the carrot?

Fourteen centimeters long by 2.4 centimeters in diameter, including the top.

Does it cut in two?

No, this is a whole carrot. Erzi also offers versions that can be cut, which are listed separately.
