Nursery rhymes played with the body
A finger play isn't just a song you listen to; it's a song you perform. Hands spin, fingers walk, the body points to itself. This connection between gesture and speech is what anchors vocabulary so quickly for a child of this age.
Twenty sound chips, twenty seconds each
The side panel features twenty soft plastic buttons, one for each rhyme, firm enough not to trigger accidentally and easy enough to be pressed by a one-year-old. The duration covers the entire song, without cutting off in the middle.
A large format that stays open
At 24.5 cm square with 40 sturdy board pages, the book stays flat on the floor while the child's hands are busy mimicking. It's a practical detail you only notice through use, and it makes all the difference.
Are the gestures explained?
The illustrations show the mimes associated with each rhyme, which helps parents who know the tune but have forgotten the movements.
Can the sound be turned off?
The sound only plays when a chip is pressed, so nothing starts on its own. The AAA batteries are included and replaceable.
How does it differ from other Milan collections?
This one is entirely focused on mime and movement. My First Collection of Nursery Rhymescovers the general repertoire, and the lullaby collectionis intended for bedtime.
At Maison Canailles, we love
seeing a one-year-old start the song themselves, then raise their arms at just the right moment.
